Complaints of brain fog, sugar cravings, fatigue, poor sleep, digestive discomfort, weight gain, seasonal allergies, skin rashes, acne or join pain may indicate that it is time to consider a gentle and professional detoxification program. Just as our cars run best on fuel, clean oil and a solid engine, the body also requires this level of care. We need far more than annual check ups from our physician to ensure good health. Exposure to environmental toxins and additional accumulation created during normal metabolism means that it is critical to regularly detoxify ourselves of these powerful pollutants. Getting our detoxification pathways running effectively (think car engine) will help keep us feeling and looking our best.
Most programs involve shakes, supplements and self-care tips yet a true detoxification also allows us to turn inward to take care of every part of our being, not just the physical form. In my opinion, the best detoxification programs involve:
* Real food (for example: lean animal protein, quality fats, a rainbow of vegetables).
* The use of phase I and phase II detoxification pathways.
* Quality professional-only supplements provided by an experienced healthcare practitioner.
* Lifestyle suggestions and action steps.
* A strong support system with weekly check-ins.
* Varying rate options for detoxification so that you feel good (versus miserable) during the detoxification process.
* A mind, body and spirit approach.
Did you know: Aetheria Relaxation Spa offers both individual and group detoxification programs?
Our next group program begins on April 13th but you must register by March 31st to ensure your spot. To learn more, please email me at alison@aetheriaspa.com or call the spa directly at 203-966-6650 to speak with a Spa Concierge.
Not quite ready for the detoxification program? Start by incorporating these foods that have detox superstar qualities:
* Watercress: high amounts of sulfur compounds which help to cleanse the liver.
* Cucumber: helps to cleanse and tone the blood by creating a more alkaline environment.
* Asparagus: a gentle diuretic along with antibacterial compounds.
