How much should you tip?At Aetheria we believe that a stress-free check-in and check-out are essential for the experience of total relaxation. Our all-inclusive prices reflect about a 20% gratuity for your therapist. You're welcome to add an amount if you really enjoyed your treatment, of course, but please don't feel obligated. Please do, however, request a specific therapist on your return visit.
But what if you're not at Aetheria and facing that awkward moment of trying to figure out what to tip your therapist? If you loved the service and treatment, then 20% would be a great starting point. If it was less than perfect (but still good), perhaps 15% would be more appropriate. If you didn't like the treatment, you should certainly make your feelings known to the Spa Director. Every therapist has a different style, technique, education and personality. Perhaps the therapist with whom you were working simply didn't click with your personality or needs. A good Spa Director will be able to guide you toward someone who will best meet your needs in the future.
Even so, performing a massage or facial is actually really hard work for your therapist. And the physical strength required for some body types or preferences for deep pressure can really be exhausting. NOT tipping at all would be insulting.
